About Humanities 21
Humanities 21 is an independent group formed out of concern for the continuing decline in resources allocated to English, History, Classics and Philosophy across Australian schools and universities, and the undervaluing of humanities graduates in the business world. We aim to help the Humanities receive a better hearing from educational funders, granting bodies and philanthropists, based on a greater recognition of their contribution to society. By promoting public programs and events in Melbourne through Humanities 21 eNews, and offering in-house seminars to Melbourne businesses, we’re working to bring humanities academics and research closer to the community.

Boo Radley Book Club: August – Animal Farm

Join us at the Henley Club for the August edition of the Boo Radley Book Club, where we will examine Animal Farm,Animal_Farm_-_1st_edition updated George Orwell’s barnyard allegory of communism, Stalin, and the Soviet Union. Wine, beer, and nibbles will be accompanied by an interactive discussion of the novel led by a Humanities 21 student volunteer. Please note there are a limited number tickets available. TICKETS HERE. 

What lessons can businesspeople learn from literature? The Boo Radley Book Club will answer this question by interrogating classic books on topics such as public policy, welfare, and morality. For more information on the Boo Radley Book Club, CLICK HERE. 

Details of Event

Participants are welcome to arrive at the Henley Club any time from 5.30pm, when drinks and nibbles will be served. Book club discussion will commence at 6pm, and go for an hour or so.

Your $12 cover charge includes wine, beer, and nibbles. Please advise if you have any dietary requirements (email Maeve from Humanities 21 at [email protected] or Rahul from Disruptive Business Network on [email protected]).

Please note that there is a limit of 20 participants at each book club, so that everyone has the opportunity to share their insights. Come one, come all – you don’t have to have studied literature OR business to be at home at the Boo Radley Book Club!
