La Trobe is running a first year undergraduate subject (The Ancient Roman World) for university credit. The course can be completed online from anywhere and there are no pre-requisites other than being over 16 years old and having English language proficiency.
This first year undergraduate subject will be taught over a 13 week period starting on 26th August.
All students will be issued with a La Trobe University transcript upon successful completion of the subject which can be used to contribute to degree credit at La Trobe University as well as any university in Australia or the world.
Dr Rhiannon Evans will deliver most of the lectures but guest lecturers include Professor Chris Mackie, Dr Gillian Shepherd, Dr Sonya Wurster and Sarah Midford. Sonya and Sarah will be working with students online every week generating and participating in discussions about the weekly lectures and readings. In addition, Rhiannon will upload a tutorial podcast every Friday which addresses the weekly student questions about the readings and lectures.
While enrolled, students will have full access to the La Trobe University library, including all its online resources, and all students will be well supported by the Ancient Mediterranean Studies staff.
Those interested can listen to a podcast on the structure of the subject or one of the first lectures on iTunes U:
Enrolments close on 23rd August and places are limited. The course is offered at a discounted price of $816 (single subject price is normally $2306).
